Duty Types

This article will take you through what Duty Types are and how to create and use them.

What are Duty types?

Duty Types are the different types of packages or trip types you provide to your customers. They help you define the type of usage of a vehicle. In the Duty Type section, create all the different duty types you use to work with all your customers. The duty types you create would be visible while adding pricing and creating a booking.

To get started, go to the Masters menu - Click on Duty Types

Here you would see a list of all the different Duty Types created.
To create a new Duty Type click on 'Add duty type'.

There are 5 different Duty Types available in Indecab:

1 - HR-KM (Local) - Select this if you would like to create a duty type based on hours and kilometers. With this, extra KM and extra HR would be automatically calculated once the usage crosses the set limit. This is mostly used in local duties within the same city.

2 - Day-KM (Outstation) - This is to be used when you would like to set a maximum number of KM/day. Extras would be automatically calculated after the KM limit is crossed. You can set the duty type to always apply the driver outstation allowance by checking the box marked ‘Apply outstation allowance always’ while creating the duty type.

3 - Long Duration - Total KM & Daily HR (Monthly bookings) - This duty type is to be used when you have monthly contracts with your customer where the total KM is calculated based on the usage in the entire month and the hours on a daily basis. Here extra KM would be calculated based on total KM used in a month and extra hours based on the daily limit. Also, you can set the number of days in a month, if the vehicle is used for extra days then Indecab will automatically calculate the cost of the extra day while generating the invoice as well.

4 - Long Duration - Total KM & HR (Monthly bookings) - can be used in the same way as the above monthly duty type. The difference being that extra hours would be calculated on the total number of hours set for the entire month. For example, if total hours is set as 300 then extra hours would be calculated after the month hours usage crosses 300hrs.

5 - Flatrate - As the name suggests, use Flatrate when you want to create a duty type where no extras would be charged irrespective of the usage. For example, if you have a fixed rate for Airport Transfers or intercity travel.

Limit a duty type to be selected only for particular cities: When you create a Duty Type you would see ‘Cities - Limit this duty type to be selected only for these city. Leave empty for all cities.’ The cities you mention in this column would create a default for this Duty Type to be only selected when a booking is created for the mentioned cities.

Example: If the cities mentioned here are Mumbai, Pune and a booking is created for Kolkata city, you would not see the above Duty Type while creating a booking.
